Why moon basking?

“The moon is the most intoxicating symbol of a woman’s innate rhythms. The native women of yore faithfully observed the lunar rhythms to ensure their womanly wellness, recognising that the rhythms of the womb emulate the lunar cycles, which are sourced in the mother consciousness. Every month the moon courses through 16 phases in its waxing cycle from new moon to full moon, each phase bearing significant impact on your shakti energy. Your health and well-being are invariably linked to the turn of the lunar wheel since the lunation cycle sets the cadence for your life force, biorhythms, and desires. The rising moon stands for the Goddess Lalia’s resurrection – symbolic of a women’s menstrual cycle. When you live by the lunar wheel, her waning cycle relieves you of emotional, physical, and psychic excesses. As the waxing cycle matures, you may replenish your immunity, sensuality, and strength as the moon swells into roundness. Recharge your shakti energy from the regenerative power source of the lunar cycles by learning to live in harmony with the movement of the goddess Lalita and her lunar deities. In doing so, you feel perennially revived in body, mind and spirit...

In Vedic practice, women convene on the second or third evening of every full moon to bathe, walk in the moonlight, or sit together in meditation beneath the full moon. In the villages of india, women today still gather during this auspicious time to anoint one another with fragrant oils and sing songs to the Great Mother."
